Animal Feed Lots (or CAFOs for short) are farms where livestock are
raised in highly dense areas for the sole reason of making money with no
regard for the health of the animals, the surrounding environment, and
the value of neighbors' homes (the unbearable stench makes it impossible
to sell a home). Two million family farms have been lost due to industrial
farms in the US in the past 50 years. They pollute thousands of
miles of rivers because the manure is sprayed on the surrounding lands
until the ground is saturated.

- You
will find local farmers, fair and health labor organizations, animal
rights organizations and environmentalists working as a single force to
rid and prevent our neighborhoods from hosting CAFOs. You can help
by finding out where to get products made by family farms. You can
also help by becoming active in making others aware of these places,
fight against them being established, and fight for better protection of
people and the environment where they already exist.
