Description

Politics is intricately linked to the demise or protection of the environment.  The unfortunate status of the world is that legal environmental protection starts from the top- down (politically speaking), but moral environmental protection starts from the bottom-up.  We the people have an obligation to put people in office that represent what we want.  Unfortunately, the corporate entity has been given more legal rights (yes, even in the eyes of the Constitution) than you and I have, and as a result, much more financial and political pull.

We're at an impasse, such as at the beginning of the Twentieth Century where we must stand up for our own rights before they are deposed further.  Electing those not influenced by a corporate puppeteer; and thus those who represent the lower and middle classes will be far more beneficial to preventing economic and environmental distress.

Another force impacting the environment is the international trade network.  Occasionally browsing the news, we see riots occurring at the larger trade conferences. Deciphering why people are standing up for a particular cause can be very difficult, especially to one who has not read much about it.  Before passing these actions off to fifteen seconds of fame, one should do some reading why these trade talks can be detrimental to all who don't have multi-billion dollar pockets.
