Description
When bio-astronomers look to the skies for life elsewhere in the universe, one of the fundamental substances in their search is water. Unfortunately, what makes life possible, is also a convenient medium for ridding ourselves of pollutants. For centuries, the size and catch of the oceans were considered limitless. That has been proven time and again over the last fifty years. The collapse of George's Bank off the coast of New England, the ignition of the Cuyahoga River due to the chemicals dumping, and the high toxicity still present from the Exxon Valdez oil spill testify to this. Water covers 70% of the planet's surface and makes up 70% of the human body. If there is any resource we need to protect, particularly from toxins that take millennia to decompose, it is water. The headings listed in the sidebar go in to details about subjects related to water. We go into details about Aquaculture (basically waterborne livestock), Beach pollution and erosion, Coral Reef loss, issues with Cruidelines, Dams, Ocean protection, Arctic and Antarctic environmental issues (which are effected despite their remoteness), River protection, Runoff from farming and cities, and Wetlands protection. Each heading has a brief description of the subject, a list of helpful websites, articles and reports and books that describe issues related to all water on earth.
